With the continuous development of 5G, millimeter wave technology will become the main development direction in the future. The application of millim eter wave technology brings new challenges and opportunities to the material s industry. Dielectric property is one of the most important properties indicators for material application in millimeter wave frequency range. Therefore, the measurement of dielec tric properties is particularly important for material manufacturers and downstream customers. Compared with other testing methods, confocal type open resonator method with the advantages of high efficiency, simple fixture fabrication, high testing accurac y, wide testing frequency band, is suitable for high frequency and low loss samples. In addition to dielectric substrate materials, it is also suitable for automatic and continuous testing of thin film materials. This document presents a method for measuri ng the dielectric properties of materials in millimeter wave frequency range by using a c onfocal type open resonator. It includes the detection of the real part of the relative permittivity and loss tangent , and also provides an automatic test method suita ble for various materials. CSTMhQÆSÑ^Ou( 全国团体标准信息平台 T/CSTM 01011E —2023 1 Measurement of dielectric properties of materials in millimeter wave frequency range —Confocal type open resonator method 1 Scope This document specifies the method of measuring the real part of the relative permittivity and loss tangent of solid dielectric, composite plate, engineering plastics and other materials in the frequency range of 20 GHz ~ 110 GHz by using a confocal type open resonator. The measurement range of the real part of the relative permittivity is from 2 to 30, and the measurement range of loss tangent is from 0.0001 to 0.05. This standard is suitable for the measurement of the real part of the relative permittivity and the loss tangent of silicon oxide, aluminum oxide , aluminum nitride, zirconia, boron nitride, silicon carbide, barium titanate and other inorganic materials, printed circuit boards and othe r organic -inorganic composite boards, polytetrafluoroethylene, polystyrene and other organic engineering plastics.
